Special coverage on Democracy NOW: Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., 1929-1968

By Andreas Klamm

Washington, D.C. / New York City/January 19, 2009/Democracy NOW!/3mnewswire.org/– The independent television and radio program Democracy NOW! hosted by the award winning broadcast journalist and author Amy Goodman and Juan Gonzalez will air today a special program to honor the Civil Rights Leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Today is Martin Luther King Day. He was born 80 years ago, on January 15th, 1929. He was assassinated on April 4, 1968, at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee. He was just thirty-nine years old.

Tomorrow, more than four decades after Dr. King’s death, Barack Obama will take his oath of office to become the 44th president of the United States and the first African American president in US history. The Reverend Joseph Lowery, a civil rights icon who co-founded the Southern Christian Leadership Conference with Dr, King, will deliver the benediction at the inauguration ceremony. Obama accepted the Democratic party nomination on the 45th anniversary of Dr. King’s “I Have a Dream” speech, arguably his most famous address.

While Dr. King is primarily remembered as a civil rights leader, he also championed the cause of the poor and organized the Poor People”s Campaign to address issues of economic justice. Dr. King was also a fierce critic US foreign policy and the Vietnam War.

Democracy NOW! will provide a special coverage about the presidential inauguration ceremony tomorrow on January, 20, 2009.

Democracy NOW! can be seen on more than 700 TV station and heard on about 250 radio stations and on the internet on http://www.democracynow.org

Democracy NOW! is hosted by Amy Goodman, award winning journalist and author of three hard-hitting books, such as “Standing up to the madness”, which she has written with David Goodman. In December 2008 Amy Goodman has received the Right Livelihood Award which is known as the alternative Nobel prize.

Since 1984 the journalist and author Andreas Klamm has produced and conducted hundreds of interviews on radio and television. He has celebrated in 2004 his 20th anniversary as a broadcast journalist on radio and television and came up with a surprise to many of his viewers and listeners when he said: “I do want to leave Germany and want to live and workas soon as possible in the United States of America and die as late as possible in the United States of America. Certainly I will be not buried in Germany but as late as possible in the United States of America. Please try to understand that I prefer to live and work in the future in the United States of America.” In October 2007 the FRENCH – GERMAN journalist, broadcast journalist and author has requested with the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. the change of the citizenship from the German one into the American citizenship. Only as a secondary profession after a training of three years in October 1993 he became also a registered nurse (R.N.) and has been working both on the Intensive Therapy Unit in Germany and in the United Kingdom in London. On the ITU he wears his blue uniform. He is still sometimes working only part-time as a registered nurse (R.N.).

Because of some special circumstances he is working full time as a journalist, broadcast journalist and author for the patients democracy and liberty as he made a statement on the radio program “Liberty and Peace NOW!” recently. The patients democracy and liberty are in quite critical conditions and my hope is we do not have to put them on the respirator or ventilator. The patients democracy and liberty, this is a part of my hope, will not need Advanced Cardic Life Support (ACLS). Photo: 3mnewswire.org

Jakob von Uexkull: Menschen sollten sich mehr in der Politik engagieren und Demokratie verteidigen

Von Andreas Klamm

New York / London / Stockholm./3mnewswire.org/13. November 2008.

Amy Goodman ist gemeinsam mit ihrem Bruder David Goodman auch die Autorin von politisch kritischen Büchern wie „Standing up to the madness“, Drilling and Killing: Chevron and Nigeria’s Oil Dictatorship’ (1998), Massacre: the Story of East Timor’. Diese Geschichte kostete fast das Leben der Autorin. In Ost -Timor überlebte die Journalistin mit einem weiteren Journalisten das Massaker im Jahr 1991, in dem Soldaten aus Indonesien 270 Menschen in Ost-Timor ermordeten.

Die Autorin und Journalistin schrieb drei weitere Bücher gemeinsam mit ihrem Bruder mit harten Fakten: The Exception to the Rulers (2004); Static: Government Liars, Media Cheer-leaders and the People who Fight Back (2006); and Standing up to the Madness (2008).

Das Buch Liberty and Peace NOW! Human Rights Reporters :: Medienprojekt Menschenrechts-Reporter :: Edition 2008, No. 1, Human Rights, abuses and violations of Human Rights, international understanding: Books on Demand Gmbh; Edition 1 (October 2008), Language: English / German, bi-lingual, (Sprachen: English, deutsch, zweisprachig), ISBN-10: 3837072436 , ISBN-13: 978-3837072433 , (21 x 14,8 x 1,2 cm), ist in allen Buchhandlungen erhältlich.

Am 10. Dezember 2008 wird der 60-Jahres-Tag der Proklamation (Verkündigung) der UNIVERSELL gültigen ALLGEMEINEN ERKLÄRUNG der MENSCHENRECHTE durch die United Nations (Vereinte Nationen) , im Jahr 1948 in New York City, Vereinigte Staaten von Amerika, gefeiert.

Amy Goodman to receive Right Livelihood Award

By Andreas Klamm, journalist, broadcast journalist and author of Liberty and Peace NOW!

Washington D. C. / New York City / London/Stockholm/October 28, 2008. The international and excellent journalist which is known as one the world best top journalists, authors and broadcast journalists has been awarded to receive the Right Livelihood Award on December 8 or December 9, 2008 by the Right Livelihood Award Foundation in Stockholm in Sweden.

Amy Goodman will share the right Livelihood Award with four other woman which have been taking part in a vital role of social transformation.

The tree other women which will receive also the Right Livelihood Award 2008 are

Krishnammal and Sankaralingam Jagannathan / LAFTI (India)

“…for two long lifetimes of work dedicated to realising in practice the Gandhian vision of social justice and sustainable human development, for which they have been referred to as ‘India’s soul’.”

Asha Hagi (Somalia)

“…for continuing to lead at great personal risk the female participation in the peace and reconciliation process in her war-ravaged country.”

and

Monika Hauser (Germany)

“…for her tireless commitment to working with women who have experienced the most horrific sexual violence in some of the most dangerous countries in the world, and campaigning for them to receive social recognition and compensation.”

Amy Goodman will be honored for “…for developing an innovative model of truly independent political journalism that brings to millions of people the alternative voices that are often excluded by mainstream media.

Presented annually in Stockholm at a ceremony in the Swedish Parliament, the Right Livelihood Award is usually shared by four recipients. One of them may receive an Honorary Award, given to a person or group whose work the Jury wishes to recognize but who is not primarily in need of monetary support. The others share the prize money of 2,000,000 Swedish kronor (approximately USD 310,000). The prize money is for ongoing successful work, never for personal use.

The media is sometimes called the fourth power in a democracy. But in many countries of the world such as for example Germany, Iran, Iraq, China, North Korea and many others the media is today no longer willing or able to play this role. Instead it defers to commercial and political interests, thus eroding democracy and destroying elementary and fundamental vital parts of a democracy such as the freedom the press, liberty, peace, free speech and justice.

With Democracy Now!, Amy Goodman has shown what the alternative to this dangerous trend can look like. Democracy Now! is the largest public media collaboration in the U.S. which is now available to people seeking alternative viewpoints around the globe.

Career

Amy Goodman was born in 1957, graduated from Harvard in 1984 and became news director at the New York radio station WBAI a few years later. In 1996 she launched the daily one-hour news broadcast Democracy Now!, which she now hosts with Juan Gonzalez, and which is produced live from 08.00 to 09.00 US EST.

Unembedded reporting

Democracy Now! focuses on issues its producers consider under-reported or ignored by mainstream news coverage, like global news or reporting on anti-war activism in the U.S. It provides hard-hitting, independent, breaking coverage of war and peace, U.S. domestic and foreign policy, and struggles for social, racial, economic, gender and environmental justice in the U.S. and abroad.

Democracy Now! seeks to give voice to the voiceless. Its broadcasts include:

  • in-depth interviews with community members, activists, academics, artists and journalists shut out by the mainstream media,

  • debates between activists and people in power,

  • investigative reports and exclusive interviews with usual and controversial guests,

  • and on-the-ground reporting from protests, the recent conventions and hot spots round the world.

Democracy Now! – Facts and figures

Democracy Now! is the fastest growing independent news program in the United States of America . The educational program is now syndicated to more than 700 radio and TV, satellite and cable TV networks in North America reaching millions of people worldwide.

Democracy Now! is produced by seven producers, 20 full-time and 15 paid part-time staff as well as many volunteers. Broadcast daily as an hourly TV show, but with its founding on radio, it is produced in such a way that the stories never rely on the pictures, which allows it to be sent out as a radio show on community radio stations all over the US.

Democracy Now! has an outreach team working to encourage communities to demand that their community radio stations transmit the program.

Democracy Now!’s innovative technical solutions allow for high usability for any kind of audience. There is ‘close captioning’ for deaf people and numerous voluntary transcribers produce full transcripts of the show. On the website, there are different types of streams and downloads, e.g. audio files, but also high-quality video files that are sent out, for example, by a Japanese TV channel once a week. Democracy Now! also keeps a complete archive of all its shows, which people can research for free.

Democracy Now! receives no government or corporate funding. Because of its educational mission, it has charitable status according to US law (501c3). Major organizational donors have been the Lannan Foundation and the Wallace Global Fund. Significant contributions also come from listeners themselves.

What Amy Goodman is calling Trickle-up journalism”

Amy Goodman describes Democracy Now! as ‘trickle-up journalism’, because the stories it runs are often taken up by the mainstream media and her interviewees are very often interviewed by other channels after they have appeared on Democracy Now! Thus, the significance of Democracy Now! goes beyond the show as such: It also serves to open up the media landscape, acting as a ‘conveyor belt’ for stories that otherwise would not reach the mainstream media.

Awards and books received by Amy Goodman

Amy Goodman’s awards include the Golden Reel for the Best National Documentary for ‘Drilling and Killing: Chevron and Nigeria’s Oil Dictatorship’ in 1998, and the Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Prize for ‘Massacre: the Story of East Timor’. This story had almost cost her life: In East Timor, she survived a massacre in 1991 in which Indonesian soldiers gunned down 270 Timorese people.

The journalist, author and brodcasting journalist has also written three hard-hitting books with her brother, David Goodman: The Exception to the Rulers (2004); Static: Government Liars, Media Cheer-leaders and the People who Fight Back (2006); and Standing up to the Madness (2008). She also syndicates a column to national papers.

Democracy Now! is broadcast daily from 8-9am EST/1-2pm GMT. To watch today’s show and for a list of international and domestic stations that carry DN!, please go to www.democracynow.org.

Quotation: What Amy Goodman has said about the Right Livelihood Award

“I am completely honored to have my work and the work of my colleagues held in such high regard, it makes me realize how important the work of bringing a truly independent voice to broadcast news and journalism really is. I really believe in free speech and independent journalism as a tool for peace, for understanding. It is so important, especially during times like these, that the media hold the politicians feet to the fire… we all need the real answers, the truth as best we can. This is why I get up every morning and go to the red firehouse we broadcast from everyday, still as excited as my first day at Democracy Now! over 12 years ago.”

Amy Goodman

The murder and killing of independent journalists fighting for liberty and democracy

Not all journalists which do publish alternative and independent reports do receive an award. Many of these journalists instead of receiving awards have been murdered. According to the Committee to Protect Journalist in 2008, 33 journalists have been killed. In 2007 according to information in the USA a number of 67 journalists have been killed.

The International Press Institute in Europe knows already about 37 journalists which been murdered in the year 2008. In the years 2007 93 journalists have been killed according to the International Press Institute.

Reporters without borders knows about the death of 34 journalists in 2008 while 126 journalists are imprisoned. About so called 93 “cyber dissidents” and 9 media assistant staff do serve in prison for simply speaking out a part of the truth for laboring for liberty, democracy and peace.

Amy Goodman to receive Communication for Peace Award

By Andrew P. Harrod
London/New York/Paris/Toronto/Athens/ 3mnewswire.org/October 3, 2008 — As the World Asscoation of Christian Communication (WACC) has issued in a news release WACC has announced that investigative journalist Amy Goodman, host of Democracy Now! (www.democracynow.org ), a daily TV /r adio news show airing on more than 700 stations worldwide, is to receive its Communication for Peace Award. The ceremony will take place at WACC´s international conference „Communication is peace“: Building viable communities and in Cape Town, South Africa, 6-10 October 2008 (Monday to Friday).

Amy Goodman draws her inspiration from independent thinkers, artists, activists, journalists and alternative media around the world – those who challenge the powers that be. In Static, she writes: „Every day, Democracy Now! breaks the sound barrier by broadcasting a rich, dissenting, diverse range of voices. This includes the powerful and the grassroots, the banned, the celebrated, the despised, marginalized and ignored. These are the voices of people fighting to make the world a better, more humane, just, peaceful, and more compassionate place.

Goodman holds a degree in anthropology from Harvard University and began her journalism career as producer of the evening news show for community radio station WBAI, Pacifica Radio´s station in New York City.

In 1991, Goodman traveled to East Timor to report on the Indonesian occupation of that country. There, she and colleague Allan Nairn witnessed Indonesian soldiers gun down 270 East Timorese men, women and children during a memorial procession. Indonesian soldiers savagely beat both journalists, fracturing Nairn´s skull. Their documentary Massacre: The Story of East Timor later won numerous awards, including the Robert F. Kennedy Prize for International Reporting, the Alfred I. DuPont-Columbia Award, the Armstrong Award, and the Radio/Television News Directors Award.

Goodman believes the role of the media is to go to where the silence is and say something. „I think the media can build bridges in society between cultures and communities. But we need to hear people speaking for themselves. That breaks down bigotry and the stereotypes that fuel hatred. If you don’t hear the voices of certain people, and you see them being demonized, it becomes easier to treat them as sub-human.

In March 2004, Goodman obtained the international broadcast exclusive of the return of Haitian President Jean-Bertrand Aristide from his imposed exile in the Central African Republic to Jamaica, accompanying the Aristides with the delegation that retrieved them.
Her coverage of the Haitian story scored more than 3.5 million hits on the web site of Democracy Now!, ultimately forcing the story into the mainstream press in what Goodman describes as a „trickle up journalism.“

Since 2006, Goodman has been writing a weekly column Breaking the Sound Barrier for King Features Syndicate. She says her column´s focus is to „include voices so often excluded, people whose views the media mostly ignore, issues they distort and even ridicule.

Goodman has published three New York Times best-sellers: The Exception to the Rulers: Exposing Oily Politicians, War Profiteers, and the Media That Love Them (2004), Static: Government Liars, Media Cheerleaders, and The People who Fight Back (2006); and Standing up to the Madness: Ordinary Heroes in Extraordinary Times (2008), each
co-authored with her brother, journalist David Goodman. WACC is proud to name Amy Goodman as the recipient of its Communication for Peace Award.

“It was shocking news to see how police officers which looked like they have prepared already for the battle of Armageddon (Greek Αρμαγεδδων; [armageddôn] also spelled Har-Magedon in some modern English translations; also known as Mount of Megiddo ) have mistreated one of the very best journalists and peace correspondents such as Amy Goodman from Democracy Now!.“, said journalist Andreas Klamm from IBS Independent Broadcasting Service Liberty.

He said also: „How can a man dare to mistreat a lady or a woman which is well known in the entire world for her hard labor as a journalist for democracy and peace. It is hard to understand that some men are so scared about the truth, democracy and liberty and that they may not know anymore how to treat in a good manner and behavior a good woman and journalist such as Amy Goodman is one. Many of us would be happy to meet her and to have a chance for an interview and these police officers have been so poor not to see the honor of meeting a precious woman which Amy Goodman certainly is.“

After about 60.000 people from around the world have signed several petitions to drop the charges against the journalist Amy Goodman and her two fellow producers have got released from prison and the charges have been dropped.

The founder and director of IBS Independent Broadcasting Service Liberty, Radio IBS Liberty, IBS Television Liberty, the independent journalist Mr. Andreas Klamm has made the statement: „Amy Goodman is of a truth one of the best journalists and working hard for peace and democracy in this world which we all in urgency do need in many different places. As an affiliate of the World Association of Christian Communication (WACC) I am very thankful and happy to learn that my colleague Amy Goodman will receive the Communication and Peace Award. However I would also be happy if her brother David Goodman would also receive a good honor and award. Amy Goodman is a great example and many of us should follow her example to stand up for peace, liberty and democracy. Her program Democracy Now! Can been seen on http://www.demoracynow.org and I only can recommend to those which do support democracy, liberty and peace that many people as possible around the world should watch or listen the program.”

Andreas Klamm is working as independent journalist, broadcasting host of 3mnewswire.org, XXL-info, Compact and many other radio and television programs. He is also the author of several books. In 1984 he has founded the independent news wire service 3mnewswire.org. In 1986 he became the founder and director of IBS Independent Broadcasting Service Liberty, Radio IBS Liberty, IBS Television Liberty. In 2006 he became the founder of the international media project “Human Rights Reporters” and has covered with his colleague Mr. Hans-Juergen Graf and other journalists about 150 cases of serious abuses of the human rights against poor people, believers in Christ and against journalists. After covering an event in memory of the victims of the NAZI-Terror-Regime during 1933 to 1945 in the year 2000 he and other co-producers have received threats and death threats for the television production “November 9, 1938 and today”.

After he has completed as a soldier his entire forced 15 months military service from 1988 to 1989 with the German Air Force (not as a volunteer, but forced !) as a descendant of a Black-African French Army officer, Mr. Haedi Sabaot, he has requested the German military forces with a petition to accept his will that he wants not to fight as a soldier for the German military forces for religious, political and belief reasons. The German military forces have not accepted the petition.

Andreas Klamm has explained: “You should know that my grandfather the French citizen, Mr. Haedi Sabaot is subject to national security both in France and in Germany. World War II has not come to an end to the family of my mother. 62 years after the capitulation of the German military in 1945 my grandfather which felt in love with a young beautiful girl, my grandmother Mrs. Martha Kolacz, which left in 1950 Germany for ever, German and French authorities still refuse to issue information about a French Army officer, which is my grandfather and the father of my mother. As many of you are able to imagine, I still can not believe that German and French governmental authorities 62 years after World War II explain to me, my sisters and to my mother, that the right of information to know what happened to our father and grandfather is still refused, abused and this I am only able to treat as serious abuse of the human rights. The terror of World War II continues and these authorities do destroy families on purpose. – In the past I have written so many letters and petitions to presidents, world leaders, embassies and military officials that I could easily fill perhaps another four books just with letters and petitions to presidents and leaders in this world in concern of the right of the information about my grandfather which disappeared after he was stationed in 1945 in Germany from this planet earth, according to German and French authorities. Who in the world would believe such a thing that an officer of the French Army disappears without any trace from the earth? However I am very thankful that after a research ongoing for more then 20 years I have found the son of my grandfathers good friend, the former French Army officer, Mr. Marbruck Brachim and I had a chance to talk with the son of my grandfather´s good friend. His father has got killed in the war in the country of Algeria. As you are able I do believe that war is wrong and the ideology of the Nazi-regime is not an opinion but a serious crime, as my colleague the journalist Mrs. Ulla Jelpke has said recently during an interview on Radio IBS Liberty.”

After two shootings in August 2008 have taken place in the German city of Dortmund against the office of the journalist and politician Mrs. Ulla Jelpke the journalist Andreas Klamm has written a public petition for protection journalists and politicians in Germany also. The 2nd attack and shooting against the office of the journalist and politician took place with co-workers of the journalist inside the office. Thanks fortune non of the workers got injured. Mrs Ulla Jelpke (www.ulla-jelpke.de) is a journalist and politician of the left wing party in Germany as known as “Die Linke” (the left). The petition can be found in the English and German language on: http://www.petitiononline.com/aug082/petition.html

The journalist Andreas Klamm has published many articles in daily newspapers since 1984 which are accounted as “liberal” and some of them are accounted as “left wing media” while other media outlets and magazines are accounted as “christian” media. He is co-operating since 1986 with many journalists from around the world, some of them have expressed to be of the Jewish, Muslim or even Christian household of faith. In 1986 he has founded the little independent magazine British Newsflash Magazine and in spring 2008 he became the co-founder of the international magazine MJB Mission News (ISSN 1999-8418).

In October 2007 for reason of faith, religion, political issues and for many other reasons the journalist has requested with the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington D.C., according to article 15, universal declaration of the Human Rights, declared in December 1948 through the United Nations the official change of the German citizenship to the American citizenship, which he prefers.

Observers from different countries have confirmed that the author and journalist Andreas Klamm suffers for about 19 months because of torture in Germany. Since about 19 months access to any kind of medical treatment, medical doctors and even dentist is denied. He wants to leave Germany and Europe, but somehow this request is also not granted at this moment. The journalist got disabled after three accidents in 1994, 1995 and 1996 and he needs medical treatment because of Asthma, back injuries and liver damages.

After being diagnosed with possible cancer, which is not certain, in the year 2003 he has declared that he wants not to die in Germany and neither wants to be buried in Germany anymore. He himself treats not as a citizen of Germany anymore.

After signing a public petition to stop the violence against the people in Burma the author and journalist has received from an US-UN Public Affairs officer an email with the statement: “ … Your voice is crucial in our decision-making processes, and we want to reiterate our appreciation for your concern. By studying this increasingly important global issue, you become better, more engaged citizens. We remain committed to facilitating democratization in Burma and continue to move as quickly as possible to end this terrible situation. …“

“I am not certain if I am accounted in the United States of America, U.S.A., as an U.S citizen already, but I still have some hope to be able to live some years in the US and to take action as citizen of the United States of America, journalist, author, broadcasting host, independent television- radio and film producer for liberty, democracy and peace before I might have to pass away after about 19 months living without any kind of access to doctors or even dentists.

However terrorists no matter in which masks they appear should try to understand and to learn, that they might be able to destroy some buildings and as a sad fact may even the life of people and investigative journalists, but you can not destroy the freedom, liberty, peace and spirit of so many precious people in the United States of America and even in other countries which are laboring hard for democracy, liberty and peace.

It is not easy to handle every day the pain after a car accident in 1994 and after an accident while being performing some horse-back riding in 1995. Because of many research in concern of the United Nations declaration of the human rights, I do know that information, expression of thoughts, the freedom of the press and journalists and even medical and social security and freedom are important and elementary for a vital democracy.

However I would be happy also if the U.S.A. would stop the terrible situation of torture against journalists which are disabled in Germany and which are working hard for democracy, liberty and peace, day and night by issuing as soon as possible the permission to live and work in the United States of America.”, said Andreas Klamm in concern of the email which he has received from an US-UN Public Affairs officer on October 23, 2007.

In April 2007 the targeted killing of poor people with disabilities has taken place in Germany and has been continued after a public debate held by the German parliament in Berlin.

Recently the author and journalist has declared “..that the war in Afghanistan is not a war in his name or in the name of the people in Germany. It is not a war in the name of all people in Germany. 20 million people in Germany do live beyond the poverty line and in poverty beyond description. Children, people with disabilities and even women have been starving to death in the country of Germany in 2007. Imagine if Germany would make the wise decision instead of building tanks for war to feed the poor citizen in Germany. This would have a great impact for peace, liberty, democracy and even social security. Most of these people do not want a war of any kind. People should try to learn that we are not competitors which are in a battle who is going to survive or not but that it is the duty of all human beings to understand and learn to live in peace and to support those which are in need instead to use weapons of mass destruction or to kill each other. The disasters which have taken place in this world such as the Tsunami in 2004 and all these earthquakes and hurricanes are already this worse, that political leaders should avoid to cause more disasters through war. My 2nd profession is to be a registered nurse (R.N., RGN) and from the experience when I became a nurse (R.N.) in 1993, also besides my 1st profession as a journalist I do know that it is certainly more difficult to save a life then to destroy a life. However I do believe together we can not only save one live but the life of many people and it is much better to save the life of people then to destroy the life of men, women and children in need.

The ongoing wars in Afghanistan and in Iraq is the war of some people in high places and in power but not the war of the people of Germany and neither the war of the people of the United States of America. The people of the United States of America and of Germany are not the enemies of the people in Afghanistan or in Iraq, but those which are the war makers and which do profit from war. Every one which is able to think, should think and every one which is able to listen should listen. Many people want liberty, democracy, peace and not war ! The people in Iraq and Afghanistan should know that this is not the war of the people of the United States of America and it is not the war of the people of Germany.

So far as I have learned many people in Germany and in the United States of America want peace, democracy and liberty and not that innocent woman and children get killed by German and American Military Forces in certain places such as in the countries of Afghanistan or Iraq. The most important duty of a journalist is the respect for the truth and for the right to the public to truth is the first duty of the journalist. Therefore I do believe no journalist or any other media person should participate in propaganda for war but take action for truth, peace, liberty and democracy. As is it written in the Holy Scriptures “Blessed are the peace makers” and NOT the war makers. In the Holy Scriptures it is also written: Thus saith the LORD of hosts; The fast of the fourth month, and the fast of the fifth, and the fast of the seventh, and the fast of the tenth, shall be to the house of Judah joy and gladness, and cheerful feasts; therefore love the truth and peace. Zechariah, Chapter 8, vers 19.”

PLEASE release the journalists and charges to be dropped off

Well known broadcasting host and journalist, Amy Goodman from Democracy Now! is back on  television but the charges have been not dropped yet, she has said on the program on Friday. Photo: 3mnewswire.org

By Andrew P. Harrod

In the beginning of September the famous host, journalist and Democray Now! anchor, Mrs Amy Goodman and her two colleagues Sharif Abdel Kouddous and Nicole Salazar got arrested as we have learned and have been later released. Also an AP Associated Press photographer Matt Rourke got arrested in the United States of America.

OPEN PUBLIC LETTER

In CONCERN of the arrest of journalists covering a political event

September 5, 2008

Dear Madam !
Dear Sir !

In foreign places brave citizen of the United States of America are in serious danger for their life to defend elementary basic rights such as human rights, free speech, liberty and democracy – so far as we have learned through American media reports and official governmental reports.

The journalists, which have been charged and arrested have not committed any kind of crime by fulfilling the public duty to publish reports or in taking pictures for television about some kind of political RNC event.

The arrests and harassment of journalists covering the Republican National Convention are not right.

We call upon St. Paul officials to free all detained journalists and drop all charges against them. These include arrests made during police raids in the days prior to the convention and, on Sept 1, of Associated Press photographer Matt Rourke, Democracy Now! anchor Amy Goodman and her two colleagues Sharif Abdel Kouddous and Nicole Salazar.

The most important standard to journalists all over the world is the truth.

As you are able to imagine we are NOT happy about the charges against independent journalists and arrests of the journalists Amy Goodman, Sharif Abdel Kouduous, Nicole Salazar, AP photographer Matt Rourke and other journalists.

America is a blessed country because of its liberty, freedom, basic rights, such as free speech, independent work of journalist.

PLEASE, consider NOT TO DESTROY the blessings for and of America and its people.

PLEASE consider NOT TO DESTROY America ! If you are going to destroy the liberty and democracy actually this would mean that America will be destroyed, as you know from the history in Germany.

As Germany in the years 1933 to 1945 has fallen deep down to dictatorship it got destroyed as you know very well the photographs how Germany has looked like after tons of bombs have been used to stop World War II and the NAZI regime in Germany.

PLEASE, defend democracy and the liberty of the United States of America and its people and PLEASE release the journalists and drop the charges against these journalists.

Arresting and detaining journalists for doing their jobs is a gross violation of free speech and freedom of the press.

Journalists must be free to do their jobs without intimidation.

PLEASE show that Almighty God has given you the wisdom, love, grace and mercy to release the independent journalists and to keep liberty and democracy.

PLEASE consider what the president of the United States of America, Abraham Lincoln has said some days ago in concern of liberty.

American President: “I know that liberty is right”

Washington. / Documentation Of Statements/- Abraham Lincoln (1809-1865), sixteenth American president (1860-1865) said: “The philosophy of the school room in one generation will be the philosophy of government in the next.” “We have been recipients of the choicest bounties of heaven. We have been preserved, these many years, in peace and prosperity. We have grown in numbers, wealth and power, as no other nation has ever grown. But we have forgotten GOD.

We have forgotten the gracious hand which preserved us in peace, and multiplied and enriched and strengthened us; and we vainly imagined, in the deceitfulness of our hearts, that all these blessings were produced by some superior wisdom and virtue of our own. Intoxicated with unbrocken success, we have become too self-sufficient to feel the necessity of redeeming and preserving grace, too proud to pray to the GOD that made us!”

“It is the duty of nations, as well as of men, to own their dependence upon the overruling power of GOD and to recognize the sublime truth announced in the HOLY SCRIPTURES and proven by all history, that those nations only are blessed whose GOD is the LORD. I am profitably engaged in reading the Bible. Take all of this book upon reason that you can, and the balance by faith, and you will live and die a better man…But for this book we could not know right from wrong. I believe the Bible is the best gift GOD has ever given to man. The Bible is suited to men in all conditions of life and includes all the duties they owe to their Creator, to themselves and to their fellowman.”

“I know that liberty is right, for CHRIST teaches it, and CHRIST is GOD.”

PLEASE pray for the police officers that GOD might forgive and save them. They might have be in some kind of distress and have over-acted in a harmful way.

Remember that CHRIST himself gave the commandment: “Thou shalt LOVE thy neighbor as thyself.” and “LOVE your enemies”.

However citizen of the United States of America and independent journalists in the United States of America are NOT the enemies of the United States of America.

Perhaps you should think and pray about this. For some reasons it seems that the real enemies of America could be those which seek to destroy free speech, peace, liberty and democracy of America and its people. Therefore please give no chance to those forces which seek to destroy the liberty and the blessings of the United States of America and its people. Remember that freedom and the freedom of the press and journalists is an important and elementary part of democracy.

PLEASE release the journalists and drop the charges. PLEASE overcome evil things with good. May GOD will give you the grace, wisdom, mercy and love, to treat independent journalists with love instead of hatred and evil. My colleague, the journalist and author, Amy Goodman and many other independent journalists are performing an important duty for the public, democracy and liberty. They should receive THANKS instead of charges. These independent journalists are fulfilling important duties as granted in the constitution of the United States of America. Some years ago I have written a letter to the U.S. President Ronald Reagan, the 40th President of the United States of America. For some reason I got an answer for the letter which I have written from the office of the White House. In the letter which I have received from the office of President Ronald Reagan a booklet with the constitution and map was delivered to me from Washington, D.C., U.S.A. For these gifts which I have kept I am very thankful.

May GOD will bless the liberty, democracy, independence, the independent journalists and the people of the United States of America and all those people which do support and defend democracy and liberty.

Thank you !

Shalom – PEACE be unto you !

Independent media: “We have to work peacefully for liberty, peace and democracy”

Andreas Klamm, is working as a journalist since 1984 (for newspapers, such as Speyerer Tagespost), in 1986 he became the founder of British Newsflash Magazine (in Speyer, Rhein, Germany and Leeds, West Yorkshire, United Kingdom) and the founder of IBS Independent Broadcasting Service Liberty.

He has received in 2000 death threats after his television production “The November 9, 1938 and today” has been aired on German Public Television.  A former female Jewish leader. Mrs. Etna Altgenug, held a speech about the crimes during 1933 to 1945. The journalist Andreas Klamm, which is in his 2nd profession a nurse (R.N., RGN) has taken the pictures and has produced the television production with some other students and colleagues. The production “The November 9, 1938 and today” has been produced to remember all the victims of the German NAZI-Regime and to make people aware of the situation that Germany is in danger to fall back into dictatorship as it has taken place in 1933 to 1945.”

In October 2007 the journalist has requested to change the citizenship (according to article 15, Universal declaration of Human Rights of the United Nations, www.un.org ) and send to the U.S. Department of Justice a request for support of political asylum He has declared in the public that he wants to leave Germany and get back to the United States of America (U.S.A.). In 2001 and 2002 he has covered some stories on television about the aftermath of 911.

“Already back in 1984 when I have been 16 years of age I have noticed that some forces a club of the rich or how ever you want to call them, is oppressing the poor people. Some  of my editors in chief told me, ..oohhhh…we can not publish this story because of… guess…  Actually the club of the rich is known by other names has forced me to create my own little magazines such as British Newsflash Magazine, Stadtmagazin Ludwigshafen, Vorderpfalz aktuell, Blick in die Zeit, Human Rights Reporter :: Die Menschenrechtsreporter, IBS Liberty, also other media outlets and to become the founder of IBS Independent Broadcasting Service Liberty, Radio IBS Liberty, IBS Television Liberty. One of my grandparents is my grandfather Mr. Haedi Sabaot, which is actually a FRENCH citizen and used to be an officer with the French Army in 1945. Are you able to imagine that I do have a serious problem with NAZI-Germany and Neo-Nazis. They have killed millions of people and they are still continuing there evil works. NAZI´s are dangerous. You might believe it not or believe it, I do not like NAZIS and I do not like a NAZI-Germany as it has taken place 1933 to 1945. When journalist get arrested this makes me always aware. It could be always the case that some forces are trying to silence or even kill the messenger, to oppress the truth, to oppress liberty, peace, justice, law and democracy. You know than journalist are threatent not to spread the word, the pictures, the program it makes me always aware of what has taken place in NAZI-Germany in 1933 to 1945.

As you know about the global food crisis and the global finanical crisis I believe that actually no nation is able to afford the luxury of a Fourth Reich, or a new dictatorship. We have to work peacefully for democracy. Yeah we have to work peacefully for the GOOD THINGS and should not allow any terrorist to destroy the good, the liberty, freedom or democracy. You want to know who are the terrorists? Pardon me, I do have no idea, perhaps you should ask the CIA, FBI or other law enforcement agencies, it seems they do know the terrorists much better then anyone else.

Do you really believe believers in Christ should be silent?  Have you any idea why Mr. Dietrich Bonhoeffer, a German believer in Christ has died in the concentration camp? Because so called “christians” in 1933 to 1945 millions of innocent people have died in Germany, 50 million people have died in World War II and you still are thinking we should keep the silence and not spread the word or share a little part of the truth.

It is no secret. All things will be revealed. Do not take my word for granted but take the WORD of GOD for granted. Be certain all the truth, all the unlawful arrests, all the lies, all the killing of people will be revealed. It is better to FEAR GOD than any man. Perhaps you should read John, Chapter 3, the book of Matthew, Chapter 7, the book of Daniel and the book of revelation. Yeah you can read some shocking news also there, even in the Old Testament of the Holy Scriptures. Do you not remember that it is written in the Holy Scriptures “Thou shalt not lie.”, “Thou shalt not kill.”

My colleague the journalist Amy Goodman, the Democracy Now!-Team and many other independent journalists in this world are doing a very important work for liberty, peace and democracy. Free speech  and the free and independent work of journalists and the press is a vital part of a democracy. If you get arrested for speaking out your opinion or a part of the truth (as their is no woman or man on earth which knows the entire truth) you should consider that you do not live in a country where democracy reigns.

Perhaps all of us should consider to read and study the 10 Commandments of the bible. Have you ever heard something about the GOLDEN RULE. Our intention is not to hurt anyone. How ever we have to spread a part of the truth, so far as we know the truth in order to save the live of many people which otherwise could be killed or even murdered. It is time, not only in America to take a stand for peace, liberty, freedom, love and democracy now!

What we do stand for ?

:: Liberty

:: Peace

:: Independence

:: Democracy

This are the basic thing. There are some more aims and tasks which we do fulfill since 1986.

However as all of you have noticed in this world “some forces” do NOT care this much about, democracy, liberty, peace and independence anymore.

This destructive forces are trying to establish instead of the GOOD THINGS, war, hatred, racism, fascism (which Germany knows so well since 1933), crimes, total enslavement, dictatorship.

What shall this be good for?

We will try to inform you as we do stand for democracy, liberty, independence and peace, but are OPPRESSED also, because the same forces which do try hard to destroy all GOOD THINGS, are trying to oppress and they do oppress a free press, free speech, free opinion and other elementary issue of a vital democracy.

IBS Independent Broadcasting Service Liberty (Leeds) pis providing independent information and information of many different kind, so far as our independent journalist are NOT hindered or the basic human rights are not abused.

Within the 24 years which I am working as an independent journalist it happened many times to me as editor in chief that I became myself several time a victim of several human right abuses including several death threat from German Neo Nazis.

Now do not get me wrong. Certainly I do know and I have covered many story´s about many other victims of serious human right abuses in Germany and even in other countries.

Since 2006 I have chosen to live and work both in the United Kingdom and in Germany.

The independent radio and television programs are produced in the English and German language since 1986 and have been and are aired on public access in the United Kingdom, Germany and other countries.

My wish and dream is to move to the United States of America (U.S.A.) which is known as the land of the free and the brave people. Even if some serious incidents have taken place in the beautiful America. I still do believe that America is a special nation and many of its people remain blessed.
